We supported a dating platform start-up during the concept creation stage. We executed robust research to inform a matching algorithm, including customer journey mapping, competitor benchmarking and user profile design. This was a cornerstone for an effective, user-centric product.

Brief & context

The dating app requested a deep understanding of the scientific concept of "compatibility" to create an effective matchmaking mechanism and make targeting. This knowledge shaped the design of a user questionnaire, profile structure, and a robust matching algorithm.

what we did

We did extensive desk research and analysed scientific literature on "compatibility" concept. We developed the theoretical foundation for the matchmaking mechanism. Competitors' websites were reviewed and analysed to identify best practices and successful approaches in the market.

Based on the findings, a user questionnaire for the online panel and profile structure were developed to align with the compatibility framework. Additionally, the customer journey was mapped, and white space opportunities for product development and differentiation were identified to ensure a competitive edge.
